Building for the Future: New Commercial Hub to Boost Stayner’s Economy and Create Jobs

MacPherson Builders and Dancor Construction break ground on a new commercial hub in Stayner, featuring major retailers like Foodland, LCBO, Dollarama, and McDonald’s. The project will create jobs, boost the local economy, and support future residential growth with key infrastructure investments.

A Community-Focused Vision

Stayner, Ontario – February 26, 2025 – MacPherson Builders and Dancor Construction have officially broken ground on a new commercial hub in Stayner. Featuring major retailers including Foodland, LCBO, Dollarama, and McDonald’s, the development is set to enhance the local economy, create jobs, and support the region’s growth.

The groundbreaking ceremony on February 25, 2025, brought together local leaders, business owners, and community members to celebrate this milestone. “This project represents more than just retail—it’s an investment in the community, creating jobs and strengthening the local economy,” said Sean Ford, President of Dancor Construction.

Designed to be a welcoming, convenient space, the commercial hub will connect people, support local businesses, and attract regional visitors. Community leaders, including PC Candidate for Simcoe-Grey Brian Saunderson, Clearview Mayor Doug Measures, Clearview Township Council members, and MP Terry Dowdall, emphasized the project’s importance for the area’s economic development.

Infrastructure Investment Enabling Future Growth

The ceremony also highlighted a major regional infrastructure milestone. With provincial support, the Province of Ontario has committed $35 million through the Housing Enabling Water Systems Fund to build the Klondike Park Road Well Site, Reservoir, and Pumping Station. This infrastructure will not only support the commercial project but also unlock the potential for 4,000 draft-approved housing units in the area, fueling further residential growth.

Next Steps

Construction is underway, with retail openings expected to begin in phases starting late 2025. The full development is on track for completion in early 2026, with site work and tenant build-outs progressing throughout the year.

As a leader in design-build construction, Dancor remains committed to delivering high-quality, efficient, and community-focused developments across Ontario.
